High-pressure liquid refrigerant from the condenser flows into the expansion valve. The expansion valve causes a sudden pressure drop in the refrigerant through a narrow passage, transforming it into a low-temperature, low-pressure mist-like mixture. The pressure-reduced refrigerant then enters the evaporator, where it absorbs heat and evaporates into a gaseous state. The expansion valve automatically adjusts the refrigerant flow rate based on the thermal load of the evaporator, ensuring the system operates efficiently. Some expansion valves are equipped with a temperature-sensing bulb that detects the temperature at the evaporator outlet and dynamically adjusts the valve opening to optimize cooling performance. By throttling pressure and regulating flow, the expansion valve ensures effective heat absorption in the evaporator, maintaining the efficient operation of the ice maker.
