Description
The water tank of the crescent ice mold (also known as half-moon ice or arc-shaped ice) in an ice maker is a critical component of the ice production process. Located inside the ice maker, the water tank temporarily stores the water source (typically filtered clean water) used for ice production. Through a pump or gravity-fed distribution system, the water is delivered to the crescent ice mold (evaporator) above, ensuring even filling of each ice mold unit.
At the start of the ice-making cycle, the water valve opens, filling the tank to the preset water level (controlled by a water level sensor). Once the ice cubes are fully formed, the ice mold is heated briefly via a heating element or hot gas valve to loosen the ice, allowing the crescent-shaped cubes to drop into the storage bin. The water tank then resets, ready for the next refill cycle.
